- For giving alcohol to a minor, three executives from two bars were also taken into custody. Social media users shared CCTV footage from one of the bars on Monday, which showed the young person drinking. Hours later, the accident occurred.
- The teenager and his friends were partying at Cozy Bar between 9.30 p.m. and 12 a.m., according to the FIR. They moved to Black, another bar, and continued to party there until one in the morning. On Sunday, the accident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m.
- Leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Sanjay Raut, said that after the previously mentioned teen was brought to the Pune police station following the accident, he was offered a pizza and burger. Raut demanded the resignation of Pune police commissioner and said that an MLA from the Ajit Pawar NCP faction helped the teenager avoid harsh punishment.
Victims: Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta
Ashwini Koshta’s father claimed that their hopes had been dashed. Ashwini studied in Pune, according to Suresh Koshta, and secured employment in December. Sampreet, Ashwini’s brother, stated that strict measures ought to be implemented to avert such irresponsible driving incidents. “She and her father used to speak every day. She informed us on Saturday that she was attending a dinner party,” Sampreet remarked.
The group of friends decided to have an impromptu dinner at a restaurant in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar neighborhood since they hadn’t seen each other in a while. “We got together in the evening and went to the eatery. It wasn’t too far away.
Aneesh Awadhiya and his friend Ashwini Koshta, both techies, passed away early on Sunday morning when the motorbike they were riding on in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar neighborhood was struck by a Porsche. Aneesh was taken to a city hospital where he passed away shortly after, but Ashwini passed away immediately. Within 14 hours of his arrest, a district court granted the 17-year-old bail, which infuriated the entire community.
Aneesh’s grandfather, Atmaram Awadhiya, stated that the teenage driver—the son of a well-known Pune realtor—shouldn’t have been released on bond. “This accident claimed the lives of two people. This is entirely incorrect. We demand severe penalties. The accused’s bail ought to be revoked,” he declared.
Community Outrage
Late on Saturday, Aneesh Awadhiya and fellow IT engineer Ashwini Koshta were coming back from a get-together. Their bike was struck from behind by a speeding Porsche at 2:15 in the morning. Aneesh and Ashwini both passed away instantly. A Pune court issued the driver, who is 17 years and 8 months old, bail within 15 hours of his application with some requirements. These include writing a 300-word essay about accidents, cooperating with traffic police for 15 days, and receiving counseling and treatment for his alcoholism. The incident has caused widespread outrage, as has the quick bail. According to Pune police, they had asked the court to allow the accused to be tried as an adult, but the request was denied. The sessions court will now be moved, they have decided. Now, the father of the teenager is in custody.
The brutal way that Aneesh Awadhiya’s family lost their son has left the family members in pieces. Images displayed family members sobbing and hugging one another. “The accused, a minor, was drunk and was driving at 240 km/h,” stated his uncle Akhilesh Awadhiya. He lacked a driver’s license. This is not a mishap; it is murder.”
Ashwini Koshta’s body arrived at her Jabalpur residence. Her family has promised to fight for justice until the very end and is equally incensed over the bail amount given to the accused. “We’re stunned right now. His receiving bail in less than 15 hours is unacceptable. It is appropriate to look into him and his parents. After Ashwini’s final ceremonies are completed, we will talk about the situation,” her uncle Jugal Kishor Koshta stated. She wanted to succeed professionally and bring her parents great pride; she had a lot of aspirations. We are unable to convey our sorrow.”
