Gangs of Godavari review: Gangs of Godavari, starring Krishna Chaitanya, is the kind of movie that rivets you to the screen yet leaves you with the uneasy sense that something is missing. You realize that the movie is heartless when Yuvan Shankar Raja‘s music takes over certain situations and gives away how to feel. The film explores the power dynamics of Godavari, where a select group of men value power above everything else. It stars Vishwak Sen, Neha Sshetty, and Anjali in the main personalities.
Story: Gangs Of Godavari
Krishna Chaitanya directed Gangs of Godavari, a raw rural action thriller film. The film stars Vishwak Sen, Anjali, and Neha Shetty in the major roles, with Sai Kumar, Nassar, Goparaju Ramana, and many others starring in supporting parts. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for the movie, and Navin Nooli edited the film. Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya co-produced the film under the umbrellas of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.
Ratna (Vishwak Sen) grows up as an orphan and a rowdy in the Godavari region’s Lanka villages, amidst political factionalism, after his parents, Gadderaju (Saikumar) and his mother, are assassinated when he is still a youngster. Under the influence of Ratnamala (Anjali), he engages in thievery and disorderly behavior while enjoying his life. Ratna is drawn into the conflict between Nanaji (Nazar) and Doraswamy Raju (Goparaju Ramana) for political power in the villages. With Nanaji‘s help, he becomes an MLA, defeating Doraswamy Raju.
As Nanaji‘s daughter Bujji (Neha Shetty) enters his life, she tries to control his wild conduct. Why did Ratna murder his father, Gadderaju? How did Ratnamala help Ratna as he grew up? In what circumstances did Bujji join Ratna’s life? What drove Ratna, who was involved in small thefts before entering politics? How did he defeat Doraswamy Raju to become an MLA? What conspiracy did Doraswamy‘s faction plan against MLA Ratna? How did Ratna’s friend Yadu (Gagan) run against him and win the MLA seat? What happened to Ratna following Yadu‘s victory? What injustice did Ratna’s family suffer during the faction wars? What happened after Ratna was jailed in a Yadu-related case? These questions are addressed in the story “Gangs of Godavari.”
Gangs of Godavari Review
Krishna Chaitanya records Rathna‘s rise to become Tiger Rathnakar, the most feared and wanted man in Godavari, at breakneck speed. While this helps to keep your interest for two hours and 26 minutes, it does not allow you to identify with Rathna when his inevitable death occurs. His confidante Ratnamala (Anjali) and wife Bujji (Neha Shetty) are his staunch supporters, yet the guy remains a mystery even to them, let alone the viewers. The film also touches on caste issues in a few situations, although it does not go all in.
