Family Star Review

Family Star movie starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur as heroines was released in theaters on Friday. Directed by Parashuram, this movie is produced by Dil Raju. After Geetha Govindam, what about this movie that came in the combination of Vijay Devarakonda and Parashuram?

The Story of a Middle-Class Boy

Govardhan (Vijay Deverakonda) is a middle class family boy. He works in a construction company. All family responsibilities are on him. He also takes the responsibility of his younger brothers and teaches them. Indu (Mrunal Thakur) moves into Govardhan‘s house on rent. Indu, a student of Central University, is trying to do a project on middle class lifestyle. She hides the secret from Govardhan and moves close with him. Seeing her goodness, Govardhan falls in love with her. Govardhan comes across a book written by Indu on his life at such a smooth time. Govardhan gets hurt by the way Indu wrote about him in that book. He breaks up with her love. Govardhan gets a chance to go to America to work on a project for a construction company called Elite. The truth is that Indu is the daughter of the CEO of that company (Jagapathi Babu). Govardhan will also go to America for project work. What happened there? How were their differences resolved? How did they get together? What did Indu write about Govardhan in her book? How did Govardhan show the greatness of the Indian community in America? That is the story of this movie (Family Star Review).

Box Office Success Formula

Middle class backdrop was once known as Tollywood box office success formula. Directors like Dasari Narayana Rao and Mutyala Subbaiah have made successful films with the hardships and sacrifices the hero has to make in order to fulfill his family responsibilities. Star heroes like Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh also got success with this formula stories. Director Parashuram touched the middle class point again after many days with Family Star (Family Star Review) movie.

Strength is Weakness

A middle class boy faced many difficulties while fulfilling his family responsibilities. Director Parasuram has written this story with the point that a girl comes into his life who dreams of seeing his family high and causes a stir. They wanted to entertain the audience by weaving family emotions, comedy and romance around this point. The strength of director Parashuram is to show family emotions and romance realistically. That strength has become a weakness in this movie. All the hardships of the middle class are very artificial. The sacrifices made by the hero for the family evokes a TV serial. The story and narrations are reminiscent of 1990s movies.

Interval Twist

The entire first half is the background of the hero’s family and the scenes that come into his life. Vijay’s struggles as a middle class boy are well shown. The fun of that scene worked out well. Vijay’s body language looks good in these scenes. Vijay and Mrunal’s romance has been shown beautifully. They created interest in the second half by giving a twist in the interval with the book written by Indu. The director shifted the story to America in the second half. Hero and heroine run with ego clash. The conflict that causes fights between the heroines is diluted. A strong conflict does not appear in the hero’s taking on household responsibilities. The director could not write that scene convincingly. The whole second half feels like a stretch. With forced romantic scenes and action episodes, the story revolves there without moving. The scenes written by director Parashuram in the name of comedy are bedisikottai. The lungi scenes where the girls try to kidnap Vijay in America are irritating. The placement of songs and fights was not done properly.

Vijay’s Performance

Vijay entertains as a middle class boy. Unlike the image of a lover boy, he played the role of a responsible boy. Action, romance, sentiment, comedy all the emotions have been cultivated well. But due to Parasuram’s routine story, all his efforts went in vain. Thus Mrunal Thakur looked beautiful. Her acting scenes are not strong. Jagapathi Babu is a regular character as the heroine’s father. Apart from Ravi Babu, Vennelakishore and Divyansha Kaushik, none of the roles created much of an impact.

For Family Audience Only

Family Star movie is likely to please the family audience. The film’s success depends on their support. Routine story line is a big minus of this movie.
