Mandisa Lynn Hundley (October 2, 1976 – April 18, 2024), known professionally as Mandisa, was an American gospel and contemporary Christian recording artist. Her career began as a contestant in the fifth season of American Idol, in which she finished in ninth place.

Mandisa, a Season 5 Top 10 American Idol contestant who went on to have a Grammy-winning career in Christian music, died yesterday at her home in Nashville. She was 47.
The Christian radio network, K-Love, confirmed her demise. No cause of death was revealed.

She is now with the God she sung about. While we are heartbroken, Mandisa has returned home. We are praying for Mandisa’s family and friends, and we want you to join us.”

Mandisa’s 2013 album, Overcomer, earned a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
Born and raised in California, Mandisa Hundley gained widespread recognition in 2006 with her qualifying performance on Season 5 of American Idol. The next year, she released her debut album, True Beauty, after finishing in the top 10 for the season.

Her 2013 album Overcomer would become her defining work, and it was well received by reviewers and the public alike. With tracks like “Stronger”, “Good Morning (feat. TobyMac)”, and “My Deliverer”, Overcomer rose to prominence on Christian radio. The CD won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music CD.
