Ratan Tata Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, and one of India’s most respected business leaders, died at the age of 86 on Wednesday night. His unexpected death has left the nation in mourning, as he was known not only for creating a global business empire, but also for his kindness and humility. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran confirmed the sad news, describing Tata as a “friend, mentor, and guide.”

Before his death, there were many rumors about Ratan Tata’s health. According to some reports, he was hospitalized due to low blood pressure. However, in a social media statement on October 7, Tata denied these reports. He told his followers on X (previously Twitter) that he was undergoing regular health check-ups due to his age and that there was no reason for concern.

“I am currently getting tests due to my age-related medical issues. There is no need  to be concerned.,” Ratan Tata wrote. “I remain in good spirits.” He asked the public and the media to stop spreading false information regarding his health.

Even with this, Tata’s family and close friends were concerned for his health. Although the exact cause of his death has yet to be confirmed, many believe it was due to age-related health issues, most likely caused by low blood pressure.

 

Ratan Tata’s Funeral Wishes

Ratan Tata belonged to the Parsi community and followed the Zoroastrian faith, which has its own traditional burial practices. However, Tata had different plans for his funeral ceremonies. He preferred to be cremated at an electric crematorium in Worli, Mumbai, rather than following traditional Parsi funeral traditions. His decision was in line with his personal wishes.

Ratan Tata’s body was kept at Mumbai’s National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) after his death, where visitors could pay their respects until 4 PM the next day. His final journey from the NCPA to the crematorium was filled with tributes and fond memories from those who admired him.
